 6/2 - Shawn Buchanon wins WPT Mandalay Bay Poker Championship
Shawn Buchanon won his first major live event by stopping one of the hottest players on the tournament circuit, Jared Hamby aka TheWacoKidd. Buchanon was the chip leader for much of the tournament and was able to hold on for the win and collected $768,775 and a seat in the $25,000 WPT championship.
Hamby collected $459,080 for his second place finish and will look to continue his hot streak in the WSOP after winning three major tournaments the past two months.
 5/31 -20 players remain at the WPT Mandalay Bay Poker Championship, which began with a smaller field than usual due to the upcoming WSOP. First prize is over $750,000 and a seat in the WPT championship for season 6.
Crowd favorite Chantel McNulty has made it into the money after bubbling 3 of her last tournaments. She is drawing a lot of attention at the final two tables as she tries to battle back from being the short stack.
 UPDATE:
Much to the crowd's displeasure, Chantel has been knocked out of the tournament in 17th place. She hopes to bounce back tomorrow in the first event of the World Series of Poker.
They plan on playing down to ten players tonight or just one more level if they can't get down to ten. Tomorrow play resumes at noon and they will play until the final TV table is set and 6 players remain.
