Manhattan Plaza Hotel coming to Las Vegas?

The Wall Street Journal

just broke the story that later today, ELAD Properties plans to announce a $5 billion mixed-use project on the Strip by 2011.

ELAD purchased the 34.5 acres that the New Frontier Hotel & Casino currently stands on and once completed would compete neck-and-neck with Donald Trump’s condo-hotel.

Last year, ELAD purchased New York’s Plaza Hotel (pictured above) for $675 million and plunked another $350 million in improvements. They plan to extend the brand to Las Vegas and around the world.

We already have The Plaza downtown just a couple miles north… is there room for two?
