Ugh, last night I wrote this whole entry and pressed the backspace key which erased everything. So I wont write as much this time.
Ok, so I was super pumped for the $2500 short handed event, I got to the Rio and was even happier that I had a table full of no names. Honestly though, now I dont know if I want a table full of no names or a table full of pro's....I suck at reading physical tells, but I feel I have real talent for reading betting patterns because of my online background. However, I CAN NOT read betting patterns from people that call PF, call the flop, call the turn, and then bet 700 into a 2,000 pot without thinking after you check to them. Basically though, I got run over at the short handed event in a way that I've never been run over in my life.. hands like:
folds to me in UTG +1 I make it 75 with 9d10d, bb calls, flop 10s Kd 3c bb leads 125 I make it 400 bb insta calls, turn 8d, bb checks I check I completely miss..bb leads out for 400 into 1k . I call he shows K7..
MP limps, I make it 125 with AdAh from the CO, sb calls, mp calls, flop Qs10s5h checks to me I bet 300, sb instacalls, mp folds, turn 10c sb checks I check river ks he bets 600, I think about folding but then I realize I can beat a few hands that bet there so I call when I really shoulda listened to my instinct and layed it down..
I raise 88 flop comes Q57 bet call, turn rag bet and get raised...I raise AQ, AK, AJ, A10, KQ, KJ, flop 884 bet and get called, or raised...GG me...
So I busted the hand before the break and during the break I met a couple of onliners that I play with on a regular basis (Roothlus and Bel0wAbove)...Below told me that if I hurry up I can make the Bellagio 1k.. so I left to the Bellagio and I made it 10 minutes before the end of the 50/100 level, with 5k in chips...I had Danennman (sp?) at my table which was pretty fun, and I ended up busting him. (I thought he might have become an asshole with all the money he won, but he's actually a cool guy).. I basically ran over the table and by the 300/600 level I had 34k in chips. After that I went completely card dead and I had to manage on making moves during the final two tables... I got to the final table about 3rd in chips with 120k but the chiplead only had maybe 140k and blinds were 3/6k .. I basically didnt play a hand till it was 4 handed and I had like 140-150k I make it 24k with 55 and the bb (aggro player who seemed to be friends with Grinder, David Williams, and a few other big names) calls, the flop comes 546 he checks and I make a weak 25k bet.. he makes it 60k like I expected and I shove in ...he instacalls and shows a set of 6's ....ugh GG 60k first prize, but I did take almost 10k which was a bit of a relief considering I had been running like shit and I suddenly made 13.5k in 2 days. At the end I was still pretty mad though, thats the only flop I'm going broke with, and I'm sure that almost any other flop that doesnt contain a 5 or a 6 on it I will probably outplay the guy....I think he was leading out any flop with no 6, in which case I shove every time, if he checks I might check behind and when he leads the turn I shove again...theres a bunch of different ways I would have played the hand and I would have won most of them unless he made some type of sick call..
Anyway, on friday I played the 2k event, with Men the Master and Sidel at my table.. I busted in about 20 minutes and I went back to the bellagio, where once again I ft'ed...unfortunately I lost 95% of my stack when it folded to the sb who raised 9k (1.5/3k) and I shoved 60k with Qc10c from the bb he instacalled with AQ..ugh...busted 10th and barely cashed for 2k...so only 1k profit for 8 or 9 hours of play....blah
Last thing I want to comment about, is Kenna James and how awesome he is. I got to play with him to my immediate right last night at the bellagio 1k for about 30 minutes. From the 1st second he sat down he had everyone laughing, he bought me a drink, and tried to get the whole table to drink, he doubled through someone while he was joking around, and later apologized to the guy for being "goofy" while they were in a big pot.... anyway, he's as nice as they come and has a really good attitude towards the game, which is something I wish I can develope in the future, being the center of attention at the table like that is really important IMO... Right now I cant have that much fun though because I have to really try and focus on improving my live game.
Thats about it for today, I might just rest all day today, and maybe all day tomorrow...I'm going to try to win my seat for the main event. And I might play some cash games later at night, they should be juicy on a saturday night... |
