There will be no 2007 $50K H.O.R.S.E. repeat for for Chip Reese. The defending champion was eliminated in 47th place. Left in the hunt for the ’07 title of best all-around World Champion poker player are some big names including Negreanu, Raymer, Phan, Greenstein and Gabe Kaplan.

Amon Filippi sits atop the leader board’s 21 remaining players with 2,3453,000 in chips. Kenny Tran is second at 1,959,000 and Bruno Fitousso third with 1,248,000. Flipchip has picked “The Mouth” to win it all even though he’s in the middle of the pack with just under 700,000 in chips. Matusow is once again demostrating his rock solid poker talent and a mature patience reminescent of his march to victory in the WSOP Tournament of Champions in December 2005. Rumors swirl through the ‘in crowd’ about Daniel Negreanu’s side action that could net him some record level prop bet money if he wins the title; but, he’ll have to pull off a chip and a chair miracle since he’s third from the bottom of the chip list with just 149,000 in play money. Our favorite Italian Pirate, Max Pescatori, is the short stack at 81,000.
