Dolphin born at The Mirage

Last week, a dolphin by the name of Duchess gave birth to a baby dolphin at the underwater Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage.

The survival rate of births in captivity is small, and veterinarians have been watching the 25-pound calf nonstop.

While baby is doing well, we won’t know for a few weeks before the vets are confident of his survival.

Officials plan to then hold a contest to name the calf.
