I need a sub

Tonight my friend who I play my high noon tournaments against asked me to sub in for his C-league basketball team. I reminded him that I was a D-league player but ready if they needed me. He picked me up and I tried to figure out where I stood.
�So you already have 5 guys,� I asked him.
�probably, or you�re the 5th,� he said.
�I may have to play the whole game?�
�it�s possible�

so we arrive and there is no one else from his team there. We pick up dude who just finished last game and we had enough to not have to forfeit. I picked up a foul on the opening tip because their guy had an open layup, and I grew up watching the bill laimbeer and rick mahorn bad boys in Detroit.- No easy buckets. I picked up another foul a few minutes later, looked up at the scoreboard and we were already down 18-0. I Panicked.

�I hope that they realize that this isn�t because of me� went through my head,
but somehow we made a run and ended the half only down a point.

The second half starts and right away we are down ten again. I take my first shot of the game and come so close to airballing, but barely catch a piece of the backboard. I picked up a few more fouls and actually had an assist or two mixed in. My buddy took it to the hole and found me open in the corner with 38 seconds left and amazingly I knocked it down (nothing but net) and looked up at the scoreboard hoping that I had just hit the game winner, but disappointingly found that it only tied it up. We had a great defensive stand and got possession of the ball with the game tied and 13 seconds left. The plan was for everyone to clear out and my buddy to take it to the rim with a few seconds left. He did and drew the foul and hit one of two free throws to put us up 1 point with 4 seconds remaining. I didn�t see how it all went down because I was so busy trying to make sure my guy didn�t score, but I saw the ball drop through the hoop and apparently they made a shot from deeper than an NBA three to win with no time left. Good times despite the loss. Then I won another twenty from my buddy in a quick no-limit tourney when he dropped me off.
