Spent Saturday running errands that took me to the heart of the Las Vegas strip where I made stops at Caesars and the Forum Shops then over to the Mirage and of course a pass thru Carnegie Deli resulted in two bags of the best deli stuff in Vegas. Walking around the strip on Saturday afternoon I couldn’t help but notice the droves of visitors crowding the sidewalks even though afternoon temps were crowding a hundred degrees (Vegas locals consider a hundred degree August day a cool spell and a sure sign that winter is coming).

Cutting through the IP I was caught up in a flowing river of college aged humanity that had apparently woke up Friday morning and suddenly realized summer will be over in a couple of weeks so get to Vegas for one last party-weekend before the college doors swing open for fall semester. This crowd definitely had a party attitude with many carrying plastic carafes of cold beer.
This is the time of year I enjoy most in Las Vegas. Best weather in the country, town full of tourist strolling the Boulevard and best of all…shorter days and longer nights. Another advantage of fall in Las Vegas is major poker tournaments in town through the end of the year and, of course, the big one, College and NFL football filling up the sports books and overflowing soft money into the adjacent poker rooms. Now’s the time to get your sack full for the holidays ahead. How can you not love Las Vegas?
I shot a few photos of the sights from the Boulevard on a late summer Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas. FlipChip’s 2006 WSOP Photo Gallery is coming.

Anyone know what casino the doors on far right lead to?
