Dr. Pauly’s 2006 WSOP Main Event Day 3 Recap
Day 3 of the WSOP began with 1,159, which was when all of the fields were combined for the first day. Someone in the room was going to win $12 million. The top 873 players would win prize money as play approached the money bubble.
Dimitri Nobles started the day as the chipleader with $553K. The average stack was $76K. Allen Cunningham $172K, David Chiu $154K, Humberto Brenes $148K, John Gale $146K, Ted Forrest $130K, and Joe Hachem $114K were all still in the hunt along with bloggers Tuscaloosa Johnny Kampis, Ryan K., and Matt Maroon.

Ryan tripled up when his K-10 cracked A-A and Q-Q. He also busted Chris “Jesus” Ferguson to go over 100K. Tuscaloosa Johnny and Matt Maroon were eliminated on the same hand. Maroon had Q-Q and Johnny had K-K as they both ran into A-A. Before the night was over, Ryan was moved to the feature table with Annie Duke.
WSOP Day 3 eliminations included Josh Arieh, The Quiet Lion Richard Brodie, Carlos Mortensen, Phil Ivey, Layne Flack, My main man Freddy Deeb, Nam Le, Stuart “Donator” Patterson, Peter “Nordberg” Feldman, Paul Wolfe, Darrell Dicken, Tony Ma, Bob Fednuiak, Dario Minieri, Tony Bloom, David “The Dragon” Pham and John Gale.
The remaining 483 players will return to play at noon on Saturday.
